Prontaprint Carlisle has been taken over by new franchise owners. Marion and David Whittaker have taken over the print and design franchise from James and Wendy Murrell, who retired following 24 years in the business.

Before becoming a Prontaprint franchise owner Mr Whittaker worked as a civil engineer, while Marion worked as a healthcare assistant and has 28 years of banking experience.

Mr Whittaker said: "Prior to taking over the centre we were both working long and unsociable hours. We were looking for a new challenge and we've always wanted to run our own business so, after researching the options, we decided to invest in such a strong and established franchise.

"We are looking forward to the new opportunities and challenges. As well as continuing with the core operations that have been so well established over the years, we will be looking to further expand our services to meet rising demand from businesses in the area."

Marion Whittaker added: "The centre already has a number of long-lasting relationships with local companies and we hope to further expand our client base as we continue to support the Carisle business community with its print and design needs."

Prontaprint's Head of marketing, Keith Davidson, said: "We are always on the look our for experienced and enthusiastic franchise owners and we have every confidence that Marion and David will embrace the challenge of running the Carlisle centre. We wish them every success in their new venture."
