Prontaprint - Award winning print franchise
Laird MacKay, Managing Director of Prontaprint, outlines the company's heightened recruitment drive during National Franchise Week
Throughout National Franchise Week Prontaprint is continuing its hunt for the UK's most ambitious entrepreneurs. At its National Franchise Exhibition stand (7th-8th October, Birmingham NEC, stand B20) Prontaprint will showcase a wealth of new business opportunities to the next generation of franchisees.
Those recruited will drive Prontaprint's digital network beyond the 200 centre mark as part of the company's major expansion plan.
Prontaprint is riding high. Recently recognised by the Brand Council as a Business Superbrand for the third consecutive year, its franchisees are becoming more and more successful, with many now enjoying annual turnovers well in excess of £1 million.
The current market for print-on-demand is buoyant with a 12 per cent increase forecast by 2007. In addition, the demand for high quality, fast turnaround colour printing continues to increase.
Prontaprint is ideally positioned to exploit this opportunity via its full colour print 'hubs' which are utilised by the whole network.
With the addition of dedicated field-based Business Development, Marketing & Sales teams, ambitious Prontaprint franchisees have an excellent opportunity to make major returns on their franchise investment.
New franchisees have recently opened greenfield Prontaprint sites at York, Fulham, Norwich and Finchley. For an entry cost starting at just £30,000, new centres and their substantial monetary rewards are now available to IT literate business professionals with strong sales and commercial backgrounds.
New franchisees could ultimately achieve the success achieved by the company's flagship centres, such as Newcastle-upon-Tyne and Birmingham Central. In Newcastle, enterprising franchisees Adam and Ruth Brenner are relishing the opportunity to operate under the banner of one of the best known brands in the business.
After careers in the fashion industry, the business-savvy couple have transformed Prontaprint's very first franchised outlet into an award-winning European Centre of Excellence, bringing them the rewards of personal success including Audi sports cars and a spacious home in one of Newcastle's upmarket suburbs. 'The Prontaprint brand certainly opens up many doors,' explains Adam. 'Being part of such a large franchise organisation means we can tap into Prontaprint's experience of the industry and utilise its centralised market research to grow our business.
'Since 1997, the new business we've generated through this strategy has created eight new jobs, more than doubling staff numbers from five to 13.
We've moved from 73rd place to 4th in the Prontaprint rankings, increased turnover from £250,000 a year to almost £1 million and won Prontaprint's European Centre of Excellence Award.' Prontaprint's flagship centre in Birmingham has also generated overwhelming success for its owners Pat Lilley and Paul Paintain. 'Using Prontaprint's support we targeted clients which would generate significant revenue for us,' explains Paul.
'Instead of small businesses with very low print requirements, we went for larger blue chip firms and advertising agencies with vast requirements and many of those clients are still with us today. 'Now we have an annual turnover of £2 million, a client list of established brand names, 23 staff and a reputation for excellence in quality, service and customer care. At Prontaprint you can really make a name for yourself and reap rewards that once seemed unattainable as part of the every day rat race.'
