Stage school franchise Razzamataz is giving children the opportunity to follow in Barbie’s footsteps and find out what it is like to be a pop star for a day, with its Barbie Popstar Academy.

The Barbie Popstar Academy takes place on Saturday 1 September 2012 and parents can register their children for free. The Academy is the first of its kind and will take Barbie fans on a unique journey showing them what it is like to be a pop star for the day. It celebrates Barbie’s own magical adventure in her latest musical movie, Barbie The Princess & the Popstar, where she fulfils her lifelong dream of becoming a pop star.

Children taking part in the Academy will show that Princesses Just Wanna Have Fun, as they learn songs from the movie with this remake of the Cyndi Lauper classic, as well as dance moves and act out key scenes from the film. The Academy will end with a performance to parents as they show off their newly found pop star skills.

The Barbie Popstar Academy takes place in many of the Razzamataz schools, giving fans a glimpse into Barbie’s magical world, and is run by experienced teachers to ensure little ones get the most out of this special event. No previous training is needed, as children will be introduced to the basic of singing, dance and acting throughout the fun activities in the Academy.

Denise Hutton-Gosney, founder and Managing Director of Razzamataz, said: “Razzamataz is incredibly proud to be bringing the Barbie Popstar Academy to our schools to celebrate the launch of Barbie The Princess & The Popstar on DVD. Performing arts has great social, educational and health benefits for young people and we think that all children should give these activities a try.”
