Adam Smith, Revive!

Revive (UK) Ltd
A car enthusiast, I swapped a well paid job as a research chemist to become a Revive! franchise owner. Despite being in a good job I found that I was not motivated and wanted to do something that was more challenging. After coming back to the UK from a year out travelling, my dad suggested that I look into franchising as a route towards self-employment.

I had always been interested in cars so when I came across Revive! it immediately appealed to me. Although I looked at other similar franchise opportunities I chose Revive! as it was the only one that offered a small business to run, rather than just a man in a van concept.

Before launching my Luton-based franchise I had four weeks training at head office, which covered everything I needed to know for running my business. Additionally the support I have received from Revive! head office since I started trading in July 2009 has been a big help.

At the moment I'm working on my own, however I hope to have two employees by the end of this year. My long-term aim is to run my business as a manager and recruit employees to do the paint repair work.

Although running my own business is harder work than my previous job I now have the motivation that was missing before. I'm concentrating on building up my business so that I can reach my year one turnover target of £60,000.
