Take the SMART route to success with Revive!
Revive! franchise owner Adam Smith started his business as a one man operation. Now, three years on, he has four employees working with him, is smashing sales records and is on track to expand his business further
"I enjoyed my previous job but you're never going to get rich working for someone else," he explains. "I had a clear idea of what I was looking for in a franchise – the opportunity to build a business, not just be a 'man and a van' – which is why Revive! really appealed to me."
Providing a mobile alternative to a body shop, Revive! franchise owners repair minor scuffs and scrapes to vehicle paintwork, including alloy wheels. Once established, franchise owners can employ staff, enabling them to concentrate on expanding the business and taking on a managerial role.
After meeting with the Revive! head office team and attending an open day, Adam quickly decided that the cosmetic vehicle repair franchise was the opportunity he had been looking for.
Before launching his Luton-based franchise, Adam attended a comprehensive four-week training course that covered all aspects of the business from the practical repair work itself to marketing and customer service.
"The training and support I have received from Revive! has been brilliant. I even had a member of the Revive! team with me throughout my launch week, which I found really reassuring.
"During my four-week training period Revive! was busy securing my first few sales," he continues. "So from day one I had work coming in and was able to hit the ground running – I broke the company's first month sales record and secured £5,200 of business!"
Since his record-breaking launch in 2009, Adam has continued to develop his business at an impressive rate and has hugely enjoyed the variety that comes with being a Revive! franchise owner.
"My attitude towards my role has changed a lot in the last 24 months," he reveals. "I love being out in my van and meeting customers, but now I've got three full-time sprayers working with me I can concentrate more on building the business and generating work.
"Some people hate it, but I really enjoy cold calling – I've found that knocking on doors is the most effective way of securing business and nothing beats the thrill of closing a deal!"
When searching for his ideal business opportunity, Adam was not only looking for a franchise that would offer him job satisfaction and growth potential, he was also looking for an investment that would secure his future.
"Being my own boss gives me the freedom to choose the hours I work, although to be honest, I work harder now than I ever have, but it's worth it when you are rewarded for your efforts," he says.
"I've recently bought my first home and have been able to treat my partner Kim – who manages the administrative side of the business – to a convertible Audi, so I am definitely enjoying the benefits of being a Revive! franchise owner."
