Saks plans to expand hairdressing salons across UK

Hairdressing salon franchise Saks is planning to open 100 men's hairdressing shops over the next five years. The company, which currently has 140 hair and beauty salons, is also set to launch 12 female salons a year over the next five years.

Although Saks has been affected by the recession it is still in a strong position to continue its UK growth and is aiming to increase its overall turnover from £50 million to £75 million in the next five years. The company will also continue its expansion into international markets this year, with plans to open five new salons and a training academy in Dubai, to add to the site it opened there last Novemeber.

Stephen Kee, from Saks, says: 'Although we are finding that clients are starting to visit our salons less often, we are finding that they are spending much more when they do and can spend as much as £1,000 by the time they are through, which will help us to expand quickly. We have been affected in some ways by the recession, but believe we remain strong because of the number of growth avenues available to us.'
