Signs Express has awarded its top franchise owners with its annual Sign Excellence awards. The Signs Excellence awards held by Signs Express gives all its franchise owners throughout the UK and Ireland the opportunity to be fully recognised for their individual achievements.

The awards were split into four categories: Best Vehicle Award; Best Interior Sign Award; Best Exterior Sign Award; and Best Project Award. British Sign Graphics Association (BSGA) Director, David Catanach, and Sign Direction’s Editor, Val Hirst, independently judged each category. Hirst said: “We were really impressed by the spread and scope of some of the entries and particularly by the fact that some of the smaller individual Signs Express centres can obviously compete very effectively against some of the larger sign makers in their areas.”

Steve McMurray franchise owner of Signs Express (Falkirk) received the Best Vehicle Award for his team’s vehicle wrapping skills to create eye-catching vehicle livery for Gemini Supplies.

The Best Interior Sign Award went to Martin Prodger at Signs Express (Reading) for his team’s work to install interior individual illuminated 3D letters to back painted glass panels at Harris Systems’ new European head office.

Signs Express (Grantham) franchise owner Ian Charles won the Best Exterior Sign Award for the design and build of an exterior totem sign for the Nottingham Regeneration project.

The winner of the Best Project Award category was Jim Gifford, Signs Express (Aberdeen) franchise owner, who was recognised for his team’s hard work providing numerous interior and exterior signs for the Trinity Shopping Centre.

Craig Brown, Managing Director of Signs Express, said: “We really appreciate and value Val and David’s help in judging the awards. It was important for us to have an independent approach to deciding on the winners and it was also a great way to get their views on the work some of our franchise owners are producing. We received some really good entries for this year’s awards so we’ve been really pleased with the outcome.”
