Two Scotland-based Signs Express franchise owners have be announced as winners of the Signs Express’ Sign Excellence awards. Steve McMurray who owns and operates Signs Express (Falkirk) won the Best Vehicle Award and Jim Gifford, franchise owner of Signs Express (Aberdeen), won the Best Project Award category.

The awards were split into four categories: Vehicle, Project, Interior and Exterior. McMurray and Gifford beat competition from Signs Express franchise owners throughout the UK to win their awards. The other award winners were Ian Charles at Signs Express (Grantham) for Best Exterior and Martin Prodger at Signs Express (Reading) for Best Interior.

David Catanach, Director of the British Sign Graphic Association (BSGA), and Val Hirst, Editor of Sign Directions, independently judged each category. Hirst said: “We were really impressed by the spread and scope of some of the entries and particularly by the fact that some of the smaller individual Signs Express centres can obviously compete very effectively against some of the larger sign makers in their areas.”

Craig Brown, Managing Director of Signs Express, said: “We really appreciate and value Val and David’s help in judging the awards. It was important for us to have an independent approach to deciding on the winners and it was also a great way to get their views on the work some of our franchise owners are producing. We receive some really good entries for this year’s awards so we’ve been really pleased with the outcome.”
