The new managing director is Craig Brown, with former MD David Corbett becoming chairman. Frank Eliel remains finance director, with Tony Marsh and Peter Sayles becoming sales and marketing director and operations director respectively.Mr Brown, Mr Marsh and Mr Sayles have become shareholders by investing in the business.

The new managing director was one of Signs Express's first employees, having joined the Norwich pilot operation as a sign-maker. As the company grew, Mr Brown headed the franchise support team, becoming director of franchise support in 2003. He is also an active member of trade body the British Signs & Graphics Association, becoming president last year.

"We have a strong team at head office and I am very proud of our achievements so far," said Mr Brown.

"The introduction of new directors and increase in shareholding ensures we have a long-term sustainable future and enables us to develop the business further in the coming years."

Founding directors Mr Corbett and Mr Eliel established the franchise in 1989, discovering a gap in the market for a professional signs and graphics operation using the then new technology of computer-cut vinyl rather than traditional paint methods.

The business now has more than 85 franchise territories in the UK and Ireland.
