New Subway Store Opens in Trafford Centre, Manchester
The SUBWAY® chain, one of the fastest growing retailers in the UK and Ireland, opened its doors to hundreds of shoppers at the Trafford Centre in Manchester on 28th October 2005. The new store, based in The Orient, the Trafford Centre's dining hall, sees an investment of £150,000
The store is the 30th Subway outlet in Greater Manchester and is part of the SUBWAY® chain's phenomenal growth in the UK and Ireland in recent months. The chain is currently opening an average of 15 stores per month and now has over 580 stores open in the UK and Ireland.
The SUBWAY® chain is keen to open more stores in non-traditional locations such as: universities, railway stations, hospitals and convenience store locations and recently opened its first store in an airport in the UK and Ireland at Bristol International Airport.
The Trafford Centre outlet is owned by Deirdre Anderson who is the business woman behind the success of the SUBWAY® chain in Manchester.
Deirdre is the Developer for the area, where she is responsible for everything from finding suitable property and franchisees to educating them about the business model.
The store in The Trafford Centre is Deirdre's landmark 30th store in the northwest, making her the multi-unit franchisee with the most stores outside of the SUBWAY® chain's native North America.
Deirdre comments: 'I am really excited to be opening my 30th store in one of the city's and in fact the country's best known landmarks. Manchester is leading the way for the SUBWAY® chain's growth in the UK and its continuing success proves the value that people place on fresh tasty food made the way you want it in front of you.'
Richard Bonner, Director or Property at The Trafford Centre said: "The Trafford Centre is constantly looking to refresh the catering offer and has achieved this with the addition of a SUBWAY® store. I'm positive that the store will be a success and will capitalise on the 30 million visitors to the Centre every year."
Across the UK and Ireland, the SUBWAY® chain plans to open a further 1,440 outlets over the next five years, creating in excess of a further 14,000 jobs with an investment of over £140 million. Worldwide, the SUBWAY® chain has created over an estimated 230,000 full and part-time jobs and has a turnover in excess of £5 billion.
