James and Andrea Fleck, Development Agents for the SUBWAY® brand in five Midland counties today announced ambitious plans to increase the number of SUBWAY® stores in Staffordshire, Shropshire, Hereford & Worcester and Warwickshire from 65 to 124 over the next threeyears, creating around 885 new jobs. James and Andrea are a brother and sister team, working together to manage the SUBWAY® Five Counties territory.

The news follows an announcement by SUBWAY® co-founder Fred DeLuca who visited the UK last year to reveal plans to increase the number of UK stores to 2000 by 2015, creating 6000 new jobs. To achieve growth across the Five Counties, James and Andrea Fleck will be looking to recruit nearly 40 new franchisees.

The SUBWAY® business model offers low start-up costs, making it an ideal entry point for entrepreneurs. There are currently 1684 SUBWAY® stores in the UK, almost a fivefold increase on the 2004 store count. The SUBWAY® brand is the largest QSR (Quick Service Restaurant) brand in the Five Counties with 65 open stores.

Last month saw the brand announce the 40,000th SUBWAY® location at an AppleGreen petrol filling station in Ipswich, England. With over 40,000 stores globally, it is the largest QSR brand in the world as measured by number of stores.

To date, across the Five Counties, there are SUBWAY® stores located within various non-traditional locations such as the Waterworld Indoor Water Theme Park in Stoke-on-Trent, The Visitor Information Centre in Stratford-upon-Avon and at the RoadChef petrol filling station on the Northbound services of the M5 motorway at Strensham.

James Fleck, Development Agent for the SUBWAY® Five Counties territory said; “The planned expansion will not only provide a significant boost to the local employment market but also give entrepreneurs the opportunity to establish their own small business. The 40 new recruits will play a key part in delivering the great food and quality service the SUBWAY® brand is known for.”
