Salad bar franchise Tossed is celebrating the launch of its salad bar at Europe's largest shopping centre, Westfield London and the introduction of two new salads to its menu. The salads target both ends of the market and contain less than 450 calories. The overly indulgent £100 salad has ingredients such as quail egg, Perigord truffles, wild mushrooms, Wagyu beef and pata negra ham, while the more affordable Credit Crunchy Salad range uses ingredients such as broccoli, pepper, cashews, pumpkin seeds and tuna.

Tossed founder and business studies graduate Vincent McKevitt comments: 'Healthy eating in the UK is still seen as boring because people immediately think of munching rice cakes and eating lettuce, celery, tomatoes and cucumber. There was a definite gap in the market for filling, tasty, healthy salads and by changing their side dish status to big and tasty meals, low in fact and calories, Tossed is changing people's perception of what healthy eating is all about.'

As part of its nationwide expansion plan Tossed plans to open 10 franchises by the end of next year. Its menu has over 20 freshly prepared salads on offer and all hot drinks, sugar and the majority of snack products carry the fair trade stamp.
