James Geller, director of a retail company in Cheam, Surrey was ready to take the next step into franchising and visited The British Franchise Exhibition in June 2013 to explore the business sectors on offer. He explains: “It’s been well worth coming a long way. I’m thinking seriously about starting up my own business and already decided to choose a franchise as I believe in the importance and value of tried and tested ideas and models. But which sector and which business?”

Seminars

Over the two days there will be an extensive range of seminars, including speakers from the British Franchise Association (bfa), members of the legal and financial professions, business advisors, franchisors and franchise owners.

Seminars will cover all aspects of the franchising world such as: ‘executives in franchising;’ ‘Franchising your business’ ‘Hands-on franchising’ and panel seminars by the bfa, to name just a few. Police Officer from Liverpool, Paul Siner, came to the exhibition focused on meeting McDonald’s and left with several brands to follow up. “This is the first show I have been to and it has been very useful. I had identified particular franchise businesses that I wanted to focus on, including McDonalds. But having looked around the show, I have now broadened my horizons. I went to some seminars including the ‘Introduction to Franchising.’ I thought the McDonald’s Open Days were excellent and focused. I will be returning tomorrow with my wife to meet with Dublcheck,” he adds.

The McDonald’s Open Sessions, thanks to popular demand, will host two sessions on both days. Visitors can learn the ins and outs of the McDonald’s franchise model and the opportunities available.
The Real Franchise Stories panels offer visitors insight from franchise owners, sharing their experiences of investing in a proven business model. The seminar hosts will share true stories of their success and failures and plenty of advice. The theatre will be jam-packed as this popular feature is something that cannot be picked up from a handbook or information leaflet.

For those looking to invest a larger amount of capital in a franchise there will also be a series of seminars aimed specifically at high-level investment. The panel includes speakers from Platinum Property Partners and Mobalpa Kitchens, who will provide insight into what makes franchises stand out as a good investment opportunity and what the returns are likely to be.

High-level investors have the luxury of the High Investment VIP Lounge. This is an exclusive area that is designed to facilitate conversations in private, comfortable surroundings over complementary tea and coffee.
