“I’m in control of my own destiny with Well Polished”
Euan Taylor has added some sparkle back into his career after investing in a Well Polished franchise and enjoying the benefits of being his own boss
Since launching his Bolton and Bury-based Well Polished franchise in June 2008, Euan Taylor (pictured) has rapidly developed his cleaning business into a thriving success.
With more than 40 members of staff, new office premises and scooping the 2009 Well Polished Franchise Owner of the Year award, what’s next for this ambitious entrepreneur?
“Over the next year I will be expanding the business further, hopefully move to a bigger premises and hire more office staff, as I want to grow the business as much as I can,” reveals Euan.
After working as a Recruitment Consultant for six years, Euan decided he wanted to take on an exciting new challenge and become his own boss. “I was very thorough with my business research – it took me about a year to find the franchise sector I wanted to go into,” says Euan. “I wanted to join a business that was in a growing market, so when I discovered the domestic and commercial cleaning franchise Well Polished, my gut instinct told me to go for it.”
Before the launch of his franchise, Euan attended an intensive one-week training course at head office, which covered all aspects of operating a Well Polished franchise. As part of the franchise package, all franchise owners receive ongoing support tailored to their needs.
“In my first year of trading, I found the ongoing support to be very useful but as the business developed and became more established, I needed less assistance. However, the Well Polished team is always there if I ever need any help.” As a result of the business’ continued month-on-month growth, Euan recently acquired office premises to keep up with consumer demand.
“The business is doing great, I am always busy,” beams Euan. “I deal with everything, from marketing and client visits to interviewing the cleaners. I now have about 40 employees and recently hired a Customer Service Manager.” Two years on and Euan is still enjoying the novelty of being his own boss.
“I’m in control of my own destiny now,” he enthuses. “I can run my business as I like and don’t have to answer to anyone. I’m still working five days a week 9-5 but as my own boss, I am able to fit work around my personal commitments.
“I’m not saying it’s easy running a business but I really enjoy what I do and I believe that the more you put in, the more you get out. Financially, I am doing very well but for me it’s not about buying flash cars and going on extravagant holidays, I wanted to become my own boss so I could live comfortably and look after my family.”
