A better quality of life with Well Polished
Last year, Marcia Knightbridge decided to leave her time-consuming and demanding job as a Field Sales Manager, to pursue an exciting business opportunity with domestic and commercial cleaning franchise, Well Polished.
Since launching her Hertforshire Well Polished franchise in July 2009, Marcia Knightbridge has enjoyed the benefits of being her own boss and has successsfully attained Silver status for exceeding Well Polished sale targets.
“I have recently achieved Silver status, which I am really pleased about as this has been in little over a year of trading,” enthuses Marcia. “I’m now going for Gold status, which I hope to attain in the next six to eight months. I have achieved far more this year than I thought possible.”
Not only is Marcia reaping the financial rewards of running her own Well Polished franchise, she is also enjoying the flexibility and job satisfaction that the business provides.
“I definitely have a better quality of life now and that is the most important thing to me,” reveals Marcia. “I still really enjoy meeting new people and providing a great level of service to our clients.”
Previously, Marcia worked as a Field Sales Manager and had become exhausted and demoralised by the hours she was working and lack of flexibility. “I felt that I would be happier working for myself and had plenty of enthusiasm and people skills, but felt these went unrewarded working for someone else.”
It was in The Franchise Magazine where Marcia first discovered the management franchise, Well Polished. In the past, Marcia had attempted to start her own business from scratch but found it very difficult, so the tried and tested business model of Well Polished was very appealing to her.
“Initially I was drawn to the brand name. I come from a sales and marketing background so the identity and name was very important to me. I felt that Well Polished sounded very fresh and professional.
“I met with Well Polished company founder Sandra Venables and was overwhelmed by her enthusiasm and knowledge. She answered all of my questions thoroughly and gave me the contact details of the franchise network in case I wanted to speak with an existing franchise owner directly,” says Marcia.
Well Polished provides its franchise owners with comprehensive training, ongoing support from head office, access to bespoke web-based management software, national and local advertising, substantial exclusive territory and business stationery.
Before the launch of her Well Polished franchise, Marcia attended a one-week intensive training course at head office, which involved attending client visits and learning every aspect of the Well Polished franchise.
“I received excellent support from day one,” explains Marcia. “I need less support from head office now, as is natural with growth and gaining experience, but I know that if I need any help they are only a phone call away.
“One of the best things about being part of the Well Polished franchise is the support of other franchise owners. It’s great to share ideas and success stories and make each other laugh when we have eventful days.”

“I have new challenges every day – at times I’m rushed off my feet, but my day is my own and it can work around personal commitments. I never had this flexibility when I worked for someone else and I couldn’t go back to that now.”
