Well Polished

Marcia Knightbridge
Q: Where did you pick up your copy of The Franchise Magazine?
Marcia: I bought the April 2009 edition of The Franchise Magazine from Morrisons.

Q: Why did you decide to invest in a franchise?
M: Franchising was the safest way for me to become my own boss, especially as I did not have any previous experience within the domestic cleaning sector. This is because I would have access to a tried and tested business model and ongoing support and training from the franchisor.

Q: What made the Well Polished profile stand out?
M: I loved the modern, fresh branding and the thought of being able to put my people skills to good use. I also thought the brand name was catchy.

Q: What was your initial impression of the Well Polished management?
M: The management team were very friendly, approachable and professional.

Q: What territory do you own?
M: My territory covers Bishop Stortford and the surrounding area

Q: What do you enjoy most about being your own boss?
M: I love having the flexibility to plan my own working week and I also like not having to drive more than 15 miles to an appointment.

Q: What are your interests outside running your business?
M: Outside of work, I enjoy socialising with friends and family. Q: Have you been able to reward yourself since you became your own boss?
M: The biggest reward for me is being able to work from home and having more time for myself and therefore a better quality of life.

Q: Who are your heroes in the business world?
M: Anita Roddick and Richard Branson.

Q: When you were a child what did you want to be when you grew up?
M: A solicitor (bizarrely my boyfriend is!)

Q: What qualities do you think you need to be successful in business?
M: You need to have a friendly personality, be a good listener and a logical problem solver. It is a juggling act at times, but it can work.

Q: What was your previous occupation and was it easy to make the transition to franchise owner?
M: Before I joined Well Polished, I worked as a Field Sales Manager. I have found it easy to make the transition to franchise owner because I'm used to meeting new people and winning new business. Although it has taken me a few months to learn more about the cleaning industry I have had brilliant support from the founder of Well Polished, Sandra Venables and the head office team from day one!
