Finding a franchise to fit your needs and budget in a busy marketplace can be challenging, raising all manner of questions. There are three important issues that you need consider: Is there an ongoing market for the service or product? How much experience does the franchisor really have in the sector – and in franchising? Will the business provide a genuine opportunity to give the franchise owner the return they are seeking? Bluebird Care is a franchisor that can provide positive answers to all these and more.

The market

A recent BBC report stated that in the UK today, there are 10 million people over the age of 65 (1.5 million being over the age of 85) and more than 3 million younger disabled adults.

These figures are expected to rise in the future and with authorities having to care for this growing number with what they term a “shrinking pot of money”, many of them can only now provide funding for those requiring the highest levels of care.

As a result, there are a total of 2.3 million people in the UK who now have to pay for their care in their own home.

This provides a perfect opportunity for business – one in which Bluebird Care is proving to be very successful, by becoming the largest providers of privately funded care at home in the UK. However, with a number of care franchises to choose from, it can be difficult to understand the different offerings.

Experience

Annetta Doyle, Franchise Recruitment Manager at Bluebird Care, explains: “Bluebird Care is the largest and most experienced franchisor in the marketplace – our Directors have more than 50 years’ franchise experience between them.

“The Bluebird Care franchise was only launched in 2006 and now has a network of more than 150 offices in the UK and Ireland, reflecting our goal of achieving a strong but steady and measured growth.”

Opportunity

Annetta continues: “Our franchise model really does work, which is evidenced by the trading performance of the Bluebird Care network. We currently have 71 per cent of our franchise owners generating an annual turnover in excess of £1 million – all achieved within a three to four-year timescale and three of those will turnover £2 million this year.

“We have the experience in both providing a high quality of care and a high-quality franchise recruitment programme.

“Our franchise recruitment process is straightforward and transparent, providing a realistic opportunity in a growing industry with strong earning potential. Achieving a positive franchise network is about professional, structured recruitment of franchise owners and not about hype, sales spiel or misquoted information.”

Bluebird Care is very clear about the profile of its franchise owners. It looks for people with passion, drive and a willingness to work hard. Our franchise owners come from a wide variety of backgrounds, so experience in the care sector is not essential. As a management franchise, the skills to develop a business and manage people are more important.

Simon Dalziel, Franchise Director, says: “We uphold excellence and high standards in the franchise industry, we allow people to create their own blueprint for success – the freedom of running your own business but with the support of a well-established operation. Franchise owners have a real opportunity with Bluebird Care.”
