Success in the North

Before Ismail became a successful CeX franchise owner in Keighley, Yorkshire, he ran an independent mobile phone store, which provided him with a good background knowledge of gadgets and electronics, which he has brought forward with enthusiasm to his new role. He explains: “I realised that there were benefits being part of a bigger group with its support structure so decided to look at franchises which might fit my skills and passions.”

For Ismail, CeX fitted his ambition perfectly. “I chose franchising because I wanted to be part of a successful and established brand, and get the benefits of the experience and systems that a franchise could offer me,” he adds. “I liked CeX because it was a similar business to the one I was already operating. They offer full training and support through the life of the business and have a team of people who work everyday to ensure that I get the best possible margins while keeping my customers happy.”The CeX support is nationally renowned as being second-to-none. Prospective investors are required to complete 400 hours of in-store training before being allowed to go it alone in their own location. This ensures that franchise owners stand the best chance of success.

Ismail continues: “The training and personal development offered is a key part to the success of both my own stores and of CeX. New developments and systems are introduced regularly to improve the business and ensure we keep up to date with trends in the market place.

“I opened my first store in March 2010 and this quickly became profitable and allowed me to expand into another location and today I am opening my third, which I expect will not be my last.”

CeX, now looking for franchise owners in various locations in Scotland, actively encourages its nework to become multi-location franchise owners.

As with any business owner, Ismail has had to work hard for his success but is extremely pleased with the progress he has made: “The business has been challenging but highly rewarding,” he adds. “Dealing with new people everyday, developing a customer base and managing staff in multiple locations is both exciting and a little daunting at times. Luckily I have good people working for me and I have a great support team who enable me to manage my sites and business.

When asked what the favourite part of his business is, he simply concludes: “Everyday is different and in three and a half years I can safely say I have never been bored or not had something to keep me busy. I would recommend the franchise to anyone who is passionate about entertainment technology and who likes working with and dealing with the public.”

CeX opportunities are available today throughout Scotland and the wider UK from 40,000 + VAT.
