Franchising adopts a Scottish flavour

Now in its fourth year, Scottish Franchise Week aims to raise awareness of ethical franchising and the role which it plays in business start-up, business expansion and job creation in Scotland. Events will be taking place in Glasgow and will draw people from all over Scotland who are looking to start their own business through franchising or expand an existing business by franchising.

'Franchising continues to make a substantial and growing contribution each year to the Scottish economy,' comments Dan Archer of the British Franchise Association (bfa). 'With this in mind it is important that we continue to encourage those enterprising individuals looking to become involved in franchising, and Scottish Franchise Week is instrumental in achieving this.'The week is sponsored by Lloyds TSB and includes networking, educational and franchise showcase events. Major events taking place next will be:

Business Breakfast - Friday 8th June at the Science Centre, Glasgow

Organised by the bfa Franchise Group for Scotland, the 2007 Business Breakfast is one of the highlights of the week. Celebrating the spirit of enterprise in Scotland, the Business Breakfast will include contributions from leading figures such as:

Michelle Mone - one of Scotland's most successful female entrepreneurs, renowned for bringing her popular Ultimo bra range to market. Michelle will be telling her story and how she has developed her business.

Suzie McCafferty - International Development Director and co-owner of Smart Cartridge, a leading retail franchise brand which specialises in the professional refilling and remanufacturing of inkjet, fax and copier cartridges. As a successful Scottish-born franchise, Suzie will be presenting the franchisor's perspective and telling her story.

Nigel Toplis - Chairman of the bfa, will be highlighting the importance of ethical franchise practice for the development of the Scottish market.

Franchise Survey for Scotland launch

The public launch of the first ever dedicated Franchise Survey for Scotland will be taking place at the Business Breakfast. The bfa will be presenting the key statistics and delegates will hear about the franchising landscape of Scotland.

The British Franchise Exhibition - 8th & 9th June, Glasgow SECC

The Scottish Franchise Exhibition will be taking place at the SECC on 8th-9th June and is the climax of Scottish Franchise Week. This is an ideal opportunity to see the breadth of opportunities available to prospective franchisees in Scotland.
