The Caremark National Care Worker of the Year has been awarded to Sharon Galbraith of Caremark (Redditch and Bromsgrove).

Despite not coming from a care background, Galbraith made a quick impression on the team at Caremark (Redditch and Bromsgrove) for being well suited as a care and support worker.

According to Caremark, all of Galbraith’s customers have praised her and one even said she deserved an award and wrote a letter to the local paper thanking her and her colleagues for their hard work.

One customer described Galbraith as: “The most caring, thoughtful person who thinks of things that others would never dream of.” Another customer commented: “Everyone in need of care should have Sharon!”

Galbraith was picked for the award out of nominations from over 60 offices across the UK. The criteria for the award was based around the persons achievements and commitment throughout the 2010 period and Galbraith really stood out as someone who had made a difference to the lives of her customers.

Rosie Williams, of Caremark Ltd, said: “It is always very difficult to decide who should win the award; we had so many strong nominations coming in from across the network which is so wonderful to see. It really does show us what a difference we can make to people’s lives, on a national scale! We are delighted to be able to recognise Sharon’s hard work and dedication and this appreciation extends to all of our Caremark Care Workers across the UK and Ireland.”
