Chesterfield Arms in Newbold crowned Pub of the Year

The family run pub on Newbold Road, which is owned by Everards Brewery, received the accolade from the Chesterfield and District branch of CAMRA, the Campaign for Real Ale.

Landlord Oliver Brown, who runs the pub with his fiancée Jo, also picked up the award for Pub of the Season last year.

Oliver puts his success down to his enthusiasm for real ale and creating a pub that is part of the community. He said: "Our customers tell us how much they love the wide range of real ales we serve. At the weekend we have around 14 ales on and there is a new beer on nearly every day.

"We are really proud to be recognised for our achievements by CAMRA. We now go forward to the Derbyshire Pub of the Year contest."

The pub holds curry and quiz nights and the recently opened function room, The Barn, plays host to beer festivals and private parties.

Oliver added: "Being in our twenties, we are quite young to be landlords but we have loved our first year here at the Chesterfield Arms and are extremely proud of our success.

"We hope to continue to grow the business with the support of Everards for many years to come. Hopefully, this latest award won't be our last!"

CAMRA chairman Jane Lefley said: "The Chesterfield Arms is a very worthy winner. Oliver and Jo are great landlords and the quality of their beer is exceptional. I've got my fingers crossed for them for the next stage of the competition."
