While debates continue about whether or not modern mums should be career women, stay at home mums or aim to have it all, a new survey commissioned by MOLLY MAID reveals whatever work life balance they achieve, half of the nation's mums feel guilty asking for help in the home.

In the survey, more than 3,000 modern mums were asked about their work and home-life balance. The survey revealed that more than two thirds of mums are the ones responsible for cleaning their home, while only five per cent of their spouses take on this task. The guilt trip mums place on themselves is evident as a mere six per cent of women have domestic help in the home.

Chief Executive of MOLLY MAID, Pam Bader OBE said: "Many mothers have less time to devote to their families and households due to the pressures of modern living and the results show it can have a negative affect on family life and relationships. It's surprising that even in this day and age women are still doing the majority of the cleaning."

The survey also revealed that nearly three quarters currently work three or more days a week yet only a third take advantage of time saving services such as online grocery shopping.
