Revive! your career

Family man Huw James found the flexible business opportunity he had been searching for with SMART repair franchise, Revive!

Before launching his Revive! franchise, Huw James enjoyed a successful career as a Programme and Logistics Manager at a company that produced interactive furniture for schools, colleges and corporate businesses.

However, with a young family and the ambition of becoming his own boss, Huw was eager to find a business opportunity that would offer him financial security and flexibility.

“In my previous job I was leaving the house early and getting home late, so I was missing out on a lot of time with my children,” he explains. “I had previously worked in the motor industry so had an idea of the business area I wanted to look in to.

“I researched a couple of different companies, but when I found Revive! on the British Franchise Association website, it just stood out for me. Revive! is more that just a man-and-a-van franchise, it provides its franchise owners with excellent expansion prospects and the ability to develop a management business.

“Revive! is also the first company in the UK to receive approval from The Institute of the Motor Industry – confirming its excellence in the automotive industry.”

Providing a mobile alternative to a body shop, Revive! franchise owners repair minor scuffs and scrapes to vehicle paintwork, including alloy wheels. Once established, franchise owners can employ staff, enabling them to concentrate on expanding the business and taking on a managerial role. Impressed with the comprehensive franchise package that Revive! offered, Huw then met with company Director, Terry Mullen, to find out more about the minor paint repair franchise. Before launching his Reading-based franchise, Huw attended a thorough four-week training course that covered all aspects of the business.

“On the training course, I learned everything I needed to know to run my business successfully – from how to professionally polish a car to administration and marketing,” he explains. “I then spent a week with a Revive! trainer to get some genuine hands-on experience.”

Since launching his Revive! franchise in 2009, Huw has developed his business at an impressive rate and is enjoying the benefits of being his own boss.

“When I first joined the network my aim was to have five vans working with me in five years,” says Huw. “Now in my third year, I have three vans on the road, so I’m on track to achieving my goal. “Now that I have got a good team working with me I am able to enjoy more flexibility,” he continues. “I take Tuesdays off to spend time with my family and Revive! even saves me time by doing my bookkeeping for me.”

Confirming his success within the franchise industry, Huw was a finalist nominee at the Start Up Awards 2012.

“Even though I didn’t win the award it was still a great achievement,” beams Huw. “It’s great to know that the hard work you put in doesn’t go unnoticed.”

With plans to expand his business further, Huw is excited for the future of his business and would recommend the Revive! franchise to those looking to become their own boss.

“While I love being out on the road and meeting with customers, I am hoping to concentrate more on the marketing side of the business and take on a more managerial role.

“If you’re self-motivated, professional, ambitious and friendly then Revive! is the business for you.”
