The milestone opening further illustrates the strength and consistent growth of the SUBWAY brand, which has opened 77 new locations in the UK and Ireland since the start of the year. Of the 1,800 stores, there are more than 350 SUBWAY stores open in non-traditional locations, such as on forecourt sites and within convenience stores.

The Euro Garages SUBWAY store, located on the A47 in Eye Green, Peterborough will create 10 new jobs in the local area and is part of an ever-increasing 47-store estate. Euro Garages aim to have invested in 100 SUBWAY stores by 2016, creating around 700 new jobs.

Mike Charest, Assistant Regional Director for SUBWAY Europe said: “The opening of the 1,800 SUBWAY store in the UK and Ireland is a huge achievement. In 2013, we opened 150 stores across the UK and Ireland. This fantastic level of growth is continuing this year, reflecting the strong entrepreneurial spirit of SUBWAY franchisees and our corporate partners.

We are constantly looking for new franchisees to open more stores around the UK and Ireland. The simple operations that are involved in running a SUBWAY franchise and the convenient, portable product offers make it a perfect fit for a variety of locations. The SUBWAY brand can be found in airports, universities, train stations, motorway service stations, convenience stores, shopping centre food courts and on the high street.”

Ilyas Munshi, Commercial Director from Euro Garages, added: “Reaching the 1,800 store milestone is clear demonstration of the popularity and more importantly, the acceptance of the SUBWAY brand by the both franchisees and consumers. For us, the SUBWAY brand is an important brand partner as we actively secure more locations and invest in our existing 180-forecourt estate across the UK. Congratulations to everyone involved!”
