SUMO scoops business award

A Leading UK supplier of underground utility detection services to the construction industry, SUMO, has scooped an award in the south's most prestigious business awards ceremony.

SUMO was runner up in The News Business Excellence Awards 'Small Business of the Year' category. Competition is tough as the annual awards feature some of the best businesses in the area competing for the top spots.

Colin Carnachan, SUMO's Franchise Director, says: 'This comes hot on the heels of our awards success last year, which included winning two national awards, and we are delighted. It's a fantastic way to kick off the new year and I am sure that 2007 is going to be another great year for the company.'

The judges were looking for a business they could admire. It included the achievement of a strong or growing market share in a chosen niche, enterprises that have succeeded by getting the very best out of their workforce and successful exploitation of innovation.

SUMO's excellence in innovation was recognised when the company won the Highways Magazine Excellence Awards, Innovative Maintenance Product of the Year in 2006 and the bfa marketing award - Brand Builder of the Year 2006.
