The founder of The Creation Station, a children’s activity franchise, has been short listed for the prestigious Extraordinary Women Awards.


Sarah Cressall has been nominated in the Extraordinary Entrepreneurship category, for women who have built their own successful business from scratch.

During her three pregnancies Cressall was confined to a wheelchair due to a medical condition. This frustrating experience, combined with a lack of quality creative activities for her own boys fed her determination to nurture the relationship with her children through enjoyable and educationally valuable creative activities. From her kitchen table in Devon in 2002 the idea for Cressall’s children’s activity business was born.

Today, Cressall has built The Creation Station into a family-friendly franchise operation on a mission to inspire imaginations. The company has enabled almost 40 UK mums to take control of their work/life balance, by running their own successful businesses, delivering The Creation Station experience through art and craft classes, birthday party and event entertainment. Uniquely, franchise owners can take their own children along to the creative activities they run in their local areas.

Cressall, who is also a previous winner of the Business Woman of the Year for Leicestershire, said: “I have achieved my dream of balancing career and family life and now I help other women to do the same by running their own creative businesses that fit around their families. I am delighted to have been reocognised for this work by being selected as a finalist for such a prestigious, nationally recognised award.”
