Hair and beauty salon franchise, Saks, is to launch its first location in India through the owner of its Master Licence for the country.

The salon is set to open in Mumbai next week and is the first of 30 salons due to open in regions across India over the next five years. Saks, a UK-based company, ultimately aims to open 200 sites within India. All these salons will be owned and operated by the owners of it Master Licence for India, which according to a Saks press release is a highly respected Indian company that previously had a network of 80 salons in India.

The flagship salon will have a team of around 40 staff and will offer the full range of Saks’ hairdressing and beauty services, as well as having four doctors and dermatologists onsite, offering advanced beauty treatments and injectables.

Stephen Kee, Managing Director of Saks, said: “The Master Licensees love everything about Saks, and part of the appeal is that we’re a western brand. Western hairdressing, and specifically British hairdressing, is very popular over there.

“Because British hairdressing is the best in the world, and our beauty industry is so advanced, it’s particularly important that we have fantastic, western Hair and Beauty Managers working in our new salons in India.”

Key members of the Saks Art Team and the group’s Head of Beauty will be shortly heading to Mumbai to give the new team intensive Saks training ahead of the launch. Saks will launch a training academy in Mumbai after the fifth salon has opened.
