To help children in Chester, Wirral, Wrexham and Edinburgh remain fit during the Christmas period children’s sport franchise, A-Star Sports is handing out pedometers instead of Christmas cards this year.

These pedometers will be given to children who already attend their local A-Star Sports franchise, where they receive sports coaching. As an entire team, A-Star Sports is hoping to make it past five million steps over the Christmas and New Year holiday.

Children taking part in the challenge will also get a chance to win places at A-Star Sport’s holiday clubs. Sharon Bassett, co-founder and Director of A-Star Sports, said: “Although every child has the chance to contribute to the five million steps challenge, we thought it would add a little extra for the coaches to participate, too. The children who record the closest number of steps to the coaches taking part will each win a prize of one full session, or its equivalent, at one of our holiday clubs next year. The best example that we can give to the many children that attend our classes is that grown-ups can join in and have a lot of fun being active too.”
