For some potential franchise owners, buying a successful business may not be an option due to a lack of sufficient funds. In some cases, passionate and driven individuals are often overlooked as they do not have the funding to support their ambition.

In a bid to recruit franchise owners from all professional and financial backgrounds, Mars branded franchise Snack-in-the-Box, is offering budding entrepreneurs the opportunity to join its established franchise at an affordable rate. By offering qualified candidates the option of interest-free deferred payments, it hopes to secure more high calibre franchise owners.

Snack-in-the-Box Sales Director, Matthew O'Neil said: "There is nothing more frustrating than finding good people, who then cannot move forward to become franchise owners because they struggle to raise enough funds.

"We are only interested in bringing people into business who have the right financial profile as well as a positive attitude and ability to succeed. If we feel they will make a success of their business, then we will help them. We wouldn't do that if we didn't believe in them, or in our business."

To ensure that Snack-in-the-Box recruits only the best franchise owners, each potential owner is thoroughly assessed to determine if they are suited to the franchise and if they are eligible for its flexible payment package.

"Deferred, interest-free payments are an attractive proposition but this deal isn't just for anybody. We have strict criteria in our franchise owner selection, so this is not about rapidly growing a business at any cost. The circumstances must be right for both Snack-in-the-Box and the new franchise owner," said O'Neil.

Snack-in-the-Box offers franchise owners two business models, the self-service box and the compact vending franchise. The self-service box franchise delivers snacks and confectionery to businesses of up to 20 employees. Starting from £23,975, the self-service box franchise can only be operated successfully as a full-time business and its package is the simplest to break down. Pre-qualified franchise owners can buy into the business for less than £10,000 plus vat, paying for the remainder of the start up costs in interest free weekly deferred payments over their first two years.

The compact vending franchise places slimline vending machines into businesses of over 20 employees. The franchise is now also available as a part-time business opportunity with fewer machines, or as a full-time multi-van business. The start-up costs, deferred payment schedule and return on investment are heavily dependent on the number of machines sited.

In September 2009, Snack-in-the-Box was acquired by Snacktime PLC making Snack-in-the-Box part of the UK's largest national operators of snack and chilled drink vending machines.

This change in ownership has enabled Snack-in-the-Box Ltd to significantly improve the franchise packages offered to potential franchise owners, especially with regards to profit margins and the establishment and sustainability of customers.
