Anytime Fitness, which was founded in 2002, now has over 2,500 gyms open across 16 countries and has over two million members worldwide. With 300 new gyms opening every year, Anytime Fitness has been the fastest-growing fitness club in the world for six years in a row, according to the International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association.

Chuck Runyon, CEO of Anytime Fitness said: “We are delighted to be able to announce our 100th franchise sale in the UK. With 32 clubs already open within the UK, this is a really positive sign for our growth in this market. The fitness industry is expanding rapidly in the UK and we have found that there is a real demand here for the Anytime Fitness offering. In fact, the average membership for an Anytime Fitness club in the UK one year after opening is already more than 30 per cent higher than for those in the USA or Australia.”

With over 600 clubs now open outside of the US, our UK growth is further proof that our business model is attractive to potential franchisees and consumers worldwide,” Runyon continued. “In fact, 2014 is likely to mark a tipping point for our business. It will be the first year that we open more gyms internationally than in the US; a trend that we expect will continue year-on-year as we invest in new markets across Europe, Latin America and Asia Pacific.”

With clubs already open in China, Mexico, Chile, Poland, the Republic of Ireland, Netherlands, Australia, Malaysia and New Zealand, Anytime Fitness aims to have a presence in 20 different countries by the end of 2014.
