Bluebird Care franchise owner Jane Perry, who is based in Edinburgh, has been awarded the highest grading in the city by the Care Commission. Bluebird Care Edinburgh, which provides a home care service, was awarded a Grade Six in every category, which is classed as excellent.

The Care Commission, which spent a day in the Bluebird Care office, scrutinised customer and carer records, training files, the compliments and complaints register, staff and customer surveys plus policies and procedures before awarding them the top accolade.

Perry said: “This sends out a strong signal to local people that we pride ourselves on providing an excellent service on every level. The inspection involved weeks of preparation and is a great boost to the whole team as well as our customers.

“Gail Syratt, who in June was awarded Care Manager of the year out of 776 other Care Managers in Scotland, worked extremely hard on the run up to the inspection to ensure we were fully prepared for our inspection.”

As part of the inspection, surveys were sent to Bluebird Care Edinburgh’s 90 customers as well as its carers. Every survey returned was made available to the inspector. Perry added: “There is no other provider in Edinburgh with Grade Six across the board. It was achieved by a team of dedicated and professional care workers, office management staff who work extremely hard to ensure our customers get a first-class service every time. Getting straight Grade Fives in our first year was in itself a tremendous achievement, but this caps that.”

Perry currently employs 70 care workers and office staff who provide care at home in the South of Edinburgh. This year Perry has expanded her franchise into the city’s northern territory and she is now planning a further recruitment drive in preparation for the busy winter months.
