This move will give the Hampshire-based company a firm foothold in Scotland, following the opening of its successful Edinburgh office in June by Jane Perry.

Bluebird Care's rapid expansion is good news for Scotland's older and vulnerable residents, who are being offered first-class professional health care - in the comfort of their own homes.

Simon Dalziel, Bluebird Care franchise Director, says: 'We provide excellent care for people in their own homes, which for many is a necessity that they simply cannot do without. We are also finding that people are taking redundancy payouts and starting a franchise business, such as ours. Because of this, we have been resilient so far to the recession.'

Paul Tarsey, Bluebird Care's Managing Director, adds: 'We find that if it is possible, people would rather stay in their own homes and it is far more cost effective for them to do so - we often have families paying for their relative's care and they have to ensure they are getting the best deal on cost, without compromising on quality of service. For many people, things are very tight and they need to have an affordable service, which delivers good value for money.'
