Bluebird Care has been on the BBC Television's Working Lunch highlighting its recession-beating recruitment drive. The franchise is creating up to 500 new jobs in the first few months of this year after announcing its is on target to open 12 offices in the same period.

Paul Tarsey, Managing Director of Bluebird Care, said he believed the remarkable growth had come as a direct result of people choosing where to receive their care, he says: 'We are working to a target of creating 500 new jobs as a minimum in the first four months of this year. The need for extra staff has come as a direct result of a swing towards people deciding to stay at home and receive care rather than going into a home.'

As the economic crisis deepens, the company has also reported sustained interest from people wishing to start their own franchised Bluebird Care business. Paul adds: 'People are attracted to franchising because they want to have more control over their destiny, particularly if they have been made redundant. Our franchisees frequently talk about the business being 'recession resilient' because the need for care at home just grows and grows.'

Among Bluebird Care's new offices are its first in Wales and Northern Ireland. Other planned offices are located in Fareham, North East London, Maidstone, West London, North Warwickshire, Wolverhampton and Sheffield.
