'Our retail customers have always valued the quality of the materials and products that we supply in our shop, so we were quite frustrated when our blinds suppliers let us down on the quality of blinds we bought in,' explains Karen.
'Paul has worked in wholesale and knew the manufacturing process, so we took the plunge and opened a factory producing blinds under our own British Blinds label. The results have been fabulous and, as well as a superior quality product, we are now able to offer our customers a fantastic range of designer fabrics and accessories that add a more stylish, luxury element to their window coverings.'
Having established the production facility, Paul and Karen's next challenge was to identify the best distribution method for their brand and they called upon Tony Urwin of Franchise Development Services to design a market leading franchise system.
'Karen and Paul have established an excellent manufacturing business and understand the UK blinds market very well,' says Tony.
