The winner of the Cafe2U Franchise Partner of 2011 award was named at the Cafe2U National Leadership Conference, which was held in Bristol this month.

Laura Macrae, who owns Cafe2U Aberdeen West, won the award, which included a prize of a holiday in Rome. Macrae has experienced record sales throughout 2011 and was highly commended at the Beverage Standards Awards. Macrae believes that her success is down to the quality of her products, she said: “I continually check that the coffee I am serving is of the best standard and sometimes I can re-calibrate my coffee grinder 10 times a day. I love my work and I am really lucky to be supported by my wonderful husband Stuart – it is so important to have the backing of your family when you start your own business.”

Other awards that were presented during the Conference included: Supreme Bean for best performing newcomers, which was won by Antonio Petrosino, of Merton, London; and Barista of the Year, which was awarded to Lance Hill, of Cardiff Central & Docks.

As well as winning Cafe2U Franchise Partner of 2011, Macrae was also one of the winners of the Top Performers of the Year award, which was also won by: Gary and Rachel Wilson, of Bristol North; Faye Cochrane, of Edinburgh; and Tim Shaw, of Reading West.

Commenting about the importance of the Conference in moving the company forward, Tom Acland, UK Managing Director of Cafe2U, said: “This year our conference theme was geared towards ‘working smarter’. As we move our global brand forwards, we must all work towards consistency, and higher brand standards, allowing us to grow and develop in the most sustainable way.

“The Franchise Partner of the Year Award recognises those who have been both active within our community and have consistently delivered a high quality in both product and service to their customers. To achieve the distinction of being awarded the National Franchise Partner of the Year is recognition of Laura’s high standards of excellence.”

Cafe2U is a mobile coffee franchise that was originally founded in Australia. The company has over 110 mobile coffee vans in Australia, over 50 in the UK and Ireland, and has recently launched its first few in the US.
