After months of training, Caremark’s Franchise Manager Patrick Thompson completed the 26.2 mile Brighton marathon in under four hours.
Thompson had been training for three and a half months prior to the event, which he aimed to complete within four hours. During the first 13 miles Thompson averaged eight minutes per mile, but stronger winds and increasing chill factor made the second half very challenging. Despite this he managed a finishing time of 3h 51m 40s.
Colleagues from Caremark’s central support office in Worthing were posted in different positions along the route to shout support as Thompson ran the course. He said: “I am just grateful that I had the fantastic support and generosity of everyone to carry me the final few miles. Thank you to everyone who, shouted, waved, teased and donated to the cause; it’s been a brilliant experience, though one I may not repeat in a hurry.”
By completing the marathon Thompson has raised over £500 for Crohn’s and Colitis UK.
