Retail franchise Cash Generator has reported record trading results for the 2009 Christmas period, which the company reveals are above even its own expectations. The buy, sell and loan store network was established in 1994 and its 110 high street locations reported a like-for-like increase of 6.6 per cent for retail sales and a growth of 16 per cent for retail internet sales for the six week period up to 2nd January 2010, compared to the same period in 2009.

"I am delighted with our Christmas performance," said Managing Director Julian Urry. "We have enjoyed a busy six weeks of trading and performed well during the Christmas period. This has ended the year on a high as have enjoyed year on year retail sales growth throughout 2009. Our extensive range of desirable products at discount prices provide excellent value, this combined with out strong customer service continues to be popular with consumers."

The company reportes that sales of home technology products, such as flat screen televisions and laptops, were "very buoyant" and aided by "strong demand" for electronic games and toys. Other products proving popular during the festive period included digital cameras, jewellery and musical instruments.

"2009 has been a very productive and exciting year for Cash Generator, as we opened our 100th store, plus an additional 23 new stores and launched our own retail website," continued Julian. "These tremendous achievements are impressive, particularly in light of the challenging economic climate we have operated in.

"Last year's buoyant trading was clearly a result of consumers' continuing and growing appetite for great products at bargain prices. 2010 looks set to be another strong year performance-wise for the company. We have more than 20 new stores scheduled to open and expect to announce record year end results at our year end, being 31st January 2010."
