The original business was first developed in the US before being launched in the UK in 1990, however the first ChipsAway franchise was not launched until 1994 – a development which signified the birth of a new business sector in Britain.

Since becoming part of FBW, ChipsAway’s growth has accelerated, thanks in part to heavy investment in wide-reaching online marketing campaigns and national television advertising; this activity has helped generate over £133m worth of repairs to the network since the start of the recession and continues to build both awareness and demand for the brand in the multi-billion-pound automotive services marketplace.

”Business is booming,” confirms franchisee Paul Fabian. Paul is one of ChipsAway’s longest established franchisees who, having initially joined ChipsAway as a man and van operator, now heads-up two thriving CarCare Centres with his wife Kim. Working on adjacent territories with teams of fully qualified technicians, Paul confirms that his business is getting stronger year on year as demand has continued to increase.

ChipsAway Chief Executive, Tim Harris said: “ChipsAway developed the first ever SMART repair system and were the first to launch an automotive paintwork repair franchise in the UK. Our TV advertising was another of many firsts in our industry and has paid great dividends for the brand as well as our franchise partners.”
