A new Crêpeaffaire franchise store is set to open in Saint David’s Shopping Centre in Cardiff.

This location will be owned and operated by Ash and Kanwal Dhillon, Mr Dhillon, previously a Local Government Senior Manager, said: “We are both foodies and we just fell in love with the brand. The Crêpeaffaire model is very successful in Central London and our market research shows that this success can be replicated here in the West.”

Daniel Spinath, founder and Managing Director of Crêpeaffaire, added: “Franchising plays a key role in our development strategy and we are keen to work with great people at great locations. We are delighted that Ash and Kanwal are becoming part of the Crêpeaffaire family: the dedication and skill set they demonstrated during the recruitment and development process give us a great deal of confidence about the future of their business and the integrity of the Crêpeaffaire brand.”

The Cardiff store will offer an extensive range of signature freshly-baked savoury and sweet crepes made with organic flour and natural ingredients, both to eat in and to consume on the go. Waffles, organic coffees, juices, shakes and ice cream will complement the menu.

The store will feature a brand new design and its trademark ‘crepe theatre’ with crepes being produced by Crêpeaffaire’s ultra-fast baking machine and hand finished to order.

Daniel Spinath added: “Crepes are known and loved by everybody, but the UK crepes market is highly fragmented with a myriad of operators without standardised production and strong management systems in place. The strength of our brand and system has turned us into market leaders with a great deal of appetite to expand.”

Mr Dhillon said: “Crêpeaffaire’s support in finding and assessing our business locations has been fantastic and they have given us a strong backing on store concept, design and logistics in a very professional way. This ongoing assistance should allow us to expand the brand to locations throughout the South West.”

Crêpeaffaire is a member of the bfa and is pursuing its development strategy involving a balanced mix of both company-owned and finished stores, nationally and internationally. Spinath said: “It has been an exciting journey since we started in 2004 and we have a craving for more, however we shall combine development with a strong focus on our existing franchise and company-owned stores.”
