Already a finalist in the ‘Irish News Workplace & Employment’ awards, Diane is now into the final round of the British Franchise Association (bfa) HSBC ‘Female Franchisee of the Year’ awards.

Diane bought the Belfast business in 2012 after managing it for the previous two years. Under her leadership the office has gone from strength to strength and today provides recruitment services and Driver CPC training to around 120 customers and regularly finds work for 50 drivers a week.

After a strong performance in 2013/14, it has got off to another flying start in the current financial year with trading currently 67 per cent ahead of the same time last year.

“To be nominated for a local award was very pleasing,” said Diane. “But to have our efforts recognised at a national level is fantastic. Of course, I have a great team working for me and this nomination reflects as much on them as it does on me.

It also says a huge amount about the value of franchising. Since taking over the franchise I’ve had full back-up and support from my franchisor which, along with my own efforts, has made Driver Hire Belfast a very successful
