Meal assembly shops, also called 'meal prep' and 'take and bake' shops, supply pre-peeled, chopped and diced freezable ingredients, from which to create home-cooked meals, with no washing up required. The products are popular with overworked parents who still want to provide their families with home-cooked meals, and The Times recently estimated that 700 such stores are operating in the US, opening at a rate of 40 per month.
