Despite challenging trading conditions, Drain Doctor Portugal has increased its business by 54 per cent in the first quarter of 2011 compared to the same period in 2010.
The franchise, which provides a 24-hour a day emergency drainage service, is part of the UK-based Drain Doctor Plumbing network. Although the Portugal economy is currently facing low growth and high unemployment, Drain Doctor Portugal has continued to increase sales.
According to the company in the first three months of 2010 Drain Doctor Portugal sales were up by 178 per cent on the same period in 2009 and sales have increased by a further 54 per cent in the first quarter of 2011.
Drain Doctor Portugal credits the increase in sales to its Operations Director, Paulo Martins, and his team. Martins, who took over the Drain Doctor’s Portugal business in early 2010, has secured new business to drive the company’s growth in the region.
Martins has promoted Drain Doctor as the only emergency drain repair company in Portugal that provides in-situ re-lining no-dig drain repairs. This is significant in the many areas that are paved in traditional intricately patterned cobblestone called calçada, which requires a lot of time and skill to replace once dug up.
Martins said: “We saw an opportunity for business growth in this area. To increase business we have ensured that Drain Doctor carefully promoted its unique position as the only emergency drain repair company in Portugal that uses up to date no-dig repair technology.”
Jan Mitman, Drain Doctor Director, said: “I am delighted that Paulo has been able to develop the Portugal business and continues to drive growth. We are always hearing about how the world is in recession and that everyone is cutting back. However, in the Algarve, as elsewhere, Drain Doctor is expanding.
“Paulo really believes in the Drain Doctor system and he tells everyone he meets about our unique selling propositions.”
Martins added: “We aim to continue to give businesses and householders in Portugal the same ‘dazzling level of service in plumbing and drainage which Drain Doctor provides across the United Kingdom.”
