Trevor Conduit explains that, when he was looking to invest in a franchise, it had to fulfil a number of requirements: 'I wanted a business that was locally based, that dealt with people rather than businesses, would enable me to work with my wife and was lucrative enough to replace a very good salary. At 52 years old I wanted to hit the ground running and that's why franchising, and Dream Doors in particular, ticked so many boxes.'
The Dream Doors franchise is a sales and management type operation, with leads generated through national and localised advertising campaigns. No kitchen or industry experience is necessary as Dream Doors helps to recruit an installation team of experienced kitchen-fitters. 'We saw an advertisement in Daltons Weekly and the concept really appealed to us,' says Trevor. 'We felt that a kitchen makeover was something we would have done in our own home and was something we could justifiably sell.'
Opening their showroom in Nottingham's West Bridgford area last year, the Conduits have been pleasantly surprised by the acceleration of their business and have already sold over £125,000 of kitchen facelifts this year. 'Dream Doors can only get stronger and stronger,' Trevor continues. 'The right people are in place and we already have plans to develop our business further by taking on our son and opening other showrooms within our territory.'
