Feast on food franchise sector insights at The Northern Franchise Exhibition

Judd Williams, Business Development Director for the Boparan Restaurant Group (BRG), which owns well-known branded restaurants including, Giraffe, Ed’s Easy Diner and Harry Ramsden’s fish & chips, will be a keynote speaker at The Northern Franchise Exhibition. He will explore some areas of potential in the food and beverage franchise sector – and how BRG plans to harness them – on Saturday 23 June at EventCity, Manchester.

The event dedicated to bringing franchise brands and specialist advice to the North West also hosts the Growing Your Own Business Conference, designed to equip entrepreneurs with the skills and knowledge to grow a successful franchise business.

Judd is well-placed to offer an inspiring and informative keynote presentation at the conference, having held leadership roles in both franchisee and franchisor businesses with brands including Starbucks, Sainsbury’s, Costa Coffee and Costa Express. In his current role at BRG, he is responsible for maximising the success of the group’s franchise partner-owned outlets.

In his keynote presentation, ‘White space for franchise growth in food & beverage,’ Judd will share some key observations of consumer trends taken from BRG’s viewpoint as an operator across multiple restaurant sectors, from fine dining to quick service restaurants (QSR).

Drawing on insights from the group’s business and research, Judd will outline potential growth opportunities for those operating in, or looking to invest in, the food and beverage franchise sector.

He’ll discuss the growing category of ‘The Treat Occasion’ – eateries dedicated to offering ice creams and desserts. Judd will examine how this dining trend has created new revenue opportunities which don’t cannibalise existing concepts.

He’ll also talk about the ‘Fast Casual Chicken’ space. BRG is the UK & Ireland franchise partner for Slim Chickens, which debuted in London in March this year.

Anyone with an interest in maximising income from a food franchises will be keen to hear how BRG is optimising ‘Out of Restaurant’ sales. With new platforms fuelling consumer demand for the food they want, when they want it at home, Judd will discuss the opportunity to leverage existing restaurant infrastructures to harness the potential additional revenue stream of takeaway and delivery food.

Judd comments: “BRG is a brand owner and franchisor, but we are also a franchisee, so we have an extensive and unique perspective on the food and beverage franchise sector.

“I look forward to sharing some of our experience and insights. I’ll illustrate how we’re responding to some of the market’s challenges and opportunities, and will share knowledge that should be useful to anyone with an interest in the food and beverage franchise sector.”

For first-time or experienced franchisees, the exhibition showcases franchise opportunities across all sectors and investment levels. Every brand exhibiting has been assessed and accredited by the British Franchise Association (bfa) and names present include event sponsor Fitness Space, Cash Generator, Merry Maids, and Creams Café.

Whatever the stage of their franchising journey, entrepreneurs will find the right business for them and essential specialist advice at The Northern Franchise Exhibition on 22 & 23 June.
