The Carl’s Jr. regional franchise owner in Canada, Jove Franchise Development Corporation, has opened the first restaurant in the country.

The new Canadian Carl’s Jr. location has been opened in Kelowna, B.C., and it is the first of five restaurants the company plans to open in Canada.

Andrew F. Puzder, CEO of CKE Restaurants Inc, the parent company of Carl’s Jr., said: “We are very pleased to welcome Jove Franchise Development Corporation to the Carl’s Jr. franchise family. With our longstanding history of successfully operating the Carl’s Jr. brand in the Western United States, it was a natural progression to open the brand in Western Canada. We are confident that the strength of our brand combined with Jove’s management expertise and passion for our brand will secure a bright future for Carl’s Jr. in the Canadian market.”

The opening of the first Carl’s Jr. restaurant in Canada is part of CKE Restaurants Inc.’s plan to double its international locations to over 700 restaurants within the next five years.

With a development agreement already in place for Vancouver, CKE Restaurants Inc. is keen to hear from prospective regional franchise owners for territories across Canada.
