After spending 18 months recovering at home, Andy became increasingly frustrated as he explains: 'I have always enjoyed working hard so I started to look around for alternative employment opportunities.'
Having specialised in electrical engineering in the RAF, Andy began working for the UK's largest residential and commercial electrical installation and repair company, Mr Electric as part of the Durham franchise.
Andy continues: 'I enjoyed using my electrical skills and the variety the job gave me, therefore when I heard about the sale of the Newcastle franchise, it seemed like an ideal opportunity to use my determination and skills to great effect.'
Since purchasing the franchise in December 2002, the business has witnessed rapid growth, now employing around 12 people with a projected turnover this year of £1 - £1.5 million.
'Owning a Mr Electric franchise has been tremendously rewarding. The vast growth of the company has been a direct result of our dedicated and excellent workforce made up of ex-service men and women, particularly Gary Woods, the franchise manager,' adds Andy.
Clive Houlston, managing director of Mr Electric UK comments: 'We are delighted to see that Andy has reached this magnificent milestone and are pleased to see that the determination of the whole team has been rewarded. We are sure in the future the company will continue to grow, becoming a well recognised brand around the area.'
