With the help of Recognition Express, Churches Together successfully launched its Street Angels project to help support families and businesses in the flood damaged community of Cockermouth, Cumbria.

More than six months after devastating floods swept through Cockermouth the community is still working hard to repair the damage. It will be months before the affected families can move back into their homes which is why the Churches Together in Cockermouth has launched its Street Angels project, which involves volunteers visiting flood effected streets and offering support to both householders and businesses.

Local company Recognition Express supplied and printed 100 high visibility vests for the Street Angel volunteers. The business which specialises in branded clothing and promotional products also produced 'Bounce Back' badges which have been sold in local shops to raise money for the flood victims.

Recognition Express franchise owner Neal Benson has supported the Street Angels appeal since the outset: "As part of the Cumbrian community I think it is important to help out as much as I can. The jackets help the volunteers stand out from the crowd and families can be re-assured that the man or woman at the door is a bonifide Street Angel."

The project is being co-ordinated by Reverend Wendy Saunders who is a team rector for the Cockermouth area: "We have been delighted by the generosity of people throughout Cumbria and from other parishes throughout the UK. We thank Neal for his ongoing support."
