The recently launched Domino’s Pizza iPhone ordering app has topped pizza sales of £1 million.

The app was launched in September with a marketing campaign that included details printed on millions of household menus, as well as promotions on Facebook and Twitter. In just a few months, the app has achieved almost 400,000 downloads and pizza sales of over £1 million.

Domino’s Pizza Sales and Marketing Director Simon Wallis said: “Online orders account for such an increasingly large proportion of our business so we knew there was going to be real demand for a Domino’s app. We wanted to make it even quicker and easier for customers to get a piping hot pizza, wherever they are and we’re delighted to have topped the £1 million sales mark in just a few months. With our ‘Domino’s store in your pocket’ app, our customers are only ever a few clicks away from a Pepperoni Passion!”

The Domino’s app uses GPS to automatically locate the nearest Domino’s store. Customers can then scroll through a carousel style menu to select their favourite pizzas, sides, desserts, subs and drinks. Pizzas can be customised by pinching to resize the base and scattering on a range of tasty toppings before sending the order straight to the store.

iPhone users can also be in with the chance of winning money off their next order by popping their pizza in the oven and swiping or blowing away the steam to reveal a code. Then, while the pizza is in the real oven, users can keep tabs on its progress with the real-time pizza tracker.
