Richard Allison, Executive Vice-President at Domino’s International said: “Before December this year, we expect India to overtake the UK in terms of store count.”

Currently there are 700 Domino’s stores in India compared to 770 in the UK. The Michigan-based firm plans to open tens of stores every month in India in spite of a slowdown in consumer demand that has hit its same-store sales. Allison, who oversees Domino's operations across 5,900 stores in 70-plus countries outside the US, said the idea was to boost market share.

Allison said Domino's is innovating on products and working towards growing the number of transactions per store to maintain its margins during the slowdown. "The only way to grow profitability is by increasing the number of transactions per store. We are not cutting back costs in advertising or training," concluded Allison.
