Jim's Mowing, a gardening franchise, has continued its UK expansion with the opening of its latest franchise in Lewisham, London. Tony Mellerick quit his job as a Computer Security Consultant to launch his Jim's Mowing business in Lewisham.

Tony said: 'I was fed-up of working for other people and fancied a change of scenery so I looked into potential franchises. I have changed my career completely from working with computers to being outside every day providing landscaping and gardening services to my local community. I now have my own business but I still have the confidence of knowing I have the support of an international company behind me.'

Before launching his franchise Tony went on a training course run by Jim's Mowing, which provided him with all the information he required to successfully run a Jim's Mowing franchise including health and safety practices, quoting for jobs, generating new business leads and how to receive work from Jim's 'cutting edge' computerised job scheduling system. Tony was able to undertake the training before he made the final decision to become a franchise owner so he could be sure he was making the right career decision.

Tony added: 'The support I received from Jim's was fantastic. The training is great and there is always constant support on offer from head office. I also feel connected to the other Jim's Mowing franchise owners through the franchise owner network and anytime I need advice all I have to do is call.

'Jim's Mowing has enabled me to take an adventure with my career and have a crack at being my own boss and I'm equally excited by the prospect of having more time to spend at home with my wife and family. Every job I have experienced so far has been different and every day presents itself with a new challenge, variation is a great thing and the work offers me so much more than the standard nine-to-five grind.'

Tony launched his franchise earlier this year and gained his first new business lead after leaflet dropping around his local neighbourhood on his first day. Tony has received an endless amount of interest since and is reaping the rewards of a very profitable business working as his own boss.
